It seems an almost calculated move for Trump to hire a spokeswoman who would prove to be as controversial and attention-hogging as he is. His campaign spokeswoman, Katrina Pierson was questioned about tweets she had made between 2012 and 2013- this was before she went to work for his campaign. For your reference, here they are:
In one, she asks if there are “any pure breeds left”after referring to Obama’s father being “born in Africa” and “Mitt Romney’s dad born in Mexico”. It should be noted that she is half black herself. Her tweet was probably targeted at the national origins of the candidates’ fathers rather than their racial purity- though nobody really knows what she was thinking when she wrote the insensitive tweet.
In the other, she decries Obama’s inability to help “blk children” while calling him the “head Negro in charge”.
She has defended her rhetoric by bringing up the fact that she is herself a “half-breed”.
On Sunday, Pierson told CNN’s Brian Stelter that Trump had the support of “even minorities and women”. Stelter was prepared, and reminded her of her complaint that Obama (and Romney) was not a “pure breed”.
“Would you like to retract that?” he asked.
“No, not at all,” she replied. “These tweets — I’m an activist and I am a half-breed. I’m always getting called a half-breed. And on Twitter when you’re fighting with liberals and even establishment, you go back at them in the same silliness they are giving you.”
“So, I myself am a half-breed,” Pierson added. “We have entered silly season. Donald Trump is up in the polls. There’s desperate campaigns out there, they can’t take him down so they try to take down the people that are around him. And we’re just not going to get distracted by all that nonsense.”
So… racist Liberals and unnamed “establishment” figures were calling her a half-breed… and that is why she had to call Obama the Head Negro and question the legitimacy of an election contested by people who are not “pure-breed”? Silly season indeed.
Disturbingly, she seems to believe that the term “half-breed” is commonly used and has pointed out that it was often used on her. She seems unaware of just how derogatory and politically incorrect the term is, due to its prior usage by white supremacists.
Even Trump is the grandson of German immigrants; if one’s racial or national heritage to be questioned, why not the man she represents?

Her tweet has even garnered the attention of one famous British fantasy novelist.
J.K. Rowling compared her with Death Eaters:

Pierson’s comments have also been described as “bigoted,” “outrageously racist,” and a “goldmine of embarrassment”, which is ironic because she has also called other Republicans racist. It is unclear if her rhetoric has an agenda beyond continuously inflaming the left and the right, on the one hand being racially insensitive and on the other calling others racist.
She had previously garnered attention for Trump’s campaign by wearing a necklace of bullets.
